From feasibility studies to full design services and commissioning, we tailor our services to suit your needs.
Our services.
Feasibility and Optioneering.
From identifying high level risks and opportunities with potential site locations, to noise and vibration surveys and predicting intrusive noise levels from nearby roads or railways, we simplify constructions and reduce project costs. We enable planning, building control and environmental requirements to be anticipated and managed effectively.
Building and Architectural Acoustics.
The control of sound in buildings influences many other elements: floor and wall constructions, roof constructions, junction details, ceilings, doors, external windows and cladding, and room finishes. At the early project stages, informed space planning minimises the need for complex and expensive constructions, and maximises flexibility of use. We navigate complex standards and guidelines to develop concise performance specifications and fully coordinated constructions, with the design team.
Troubleshooting.
The sound around us is so integral to how we perceive the world that acoustic problems in our built environment can cause significant disturbance to our sleep, ability to concentrate, and productivity at work. They can also be virtually impossible for non-specialists to find and then solve. We have the practical experience and depth of knowledge to not only identify such issues, but also develop and implement practical, cost-effective solutions.
Planning and Noise.
Planning conditions seek to protect new or existing occupants of buildings from noise and vibration. We interpret complex conditions and legislation, identify the implications, and liaise with Local Authority officers. We help guide you through the process of discharging planning conditions to minimise the risk of delays affecting programme and cost.
Ventilation and Overheating.
Choosing the right ventilation strategy for any particular development is a crucial decision made early in the design process. We assess the noise exposure of prospective sites and advise on the acoustic implications of different ventilation options, including natural ventilation, mixed mode and full mechanical ventilation. From initial high level assessments to full Acoustics Ventilation and Overheating (AVO) assessments for residences, we develop a coordinated design that saves both money and energy.
Construction and Commissioning.
Delivering the acoustic strategy and design requires ongoing input throughout the building construction stage. Taking a pragmatic, flexible approach to any design changes during construction enables us to respond quickly and professionally to issues, minimising cost increases and programme delays. We combine an eye for detail with a thorough understanding of the underlying strategy and design intent, as well as an in-depth knowledge of legislative and contractual requirements.
